A discrete client in the creative industry reached out to us for a new single-family house. We validated the design they already had envisioned and filed it for permitting. Located in a bend in New York State Route 52 near Liberty, NY, the wooded property slopes gently southward and receives plenty of sunlight and privacy due its neighboring lots being undeveloped.

Designing the house was a collaborative effort between us and the client who had a clear vision from the start. Its stepped roof allows sunlight to reach a loft and the central living space. The rooms had to remain flexible and convertible for varying uses throughout the year. Indoor air circulation and quality were also design considerations, which the skylights in the staggered roof helped to promote.
