Germantown Studio

A couple with two small children has found a new home in the Hudson Valley. One is a writer and educator, the other is an art handler and sculptor. Both are gentle beings, uncommon storytellers, wonderful parents, who go through life not quite fitting into the crowd.

13 acres of hilly land once overgrowing with ivy have now been cleared (spurred by undiagnosed pyromania) save a few dozen mature trees including American Chestnut and Eastern White Pine, and seeded. Fruit trees will soon blossom along a gulley, circumscribed by a walking path, all overlooked by a clear hilltop to the west upon which an architectural seed will germinate.

This accessory studio cabin is modular, filled with light, plays with the common barnhouse typology, can accommodate writing, pottery, or art storage, and embodies an open mind wandering off into the woods in creative pursuit.
